Perspective

Perspective - a particular attitude towards or way of regarding something.

I have come to a realisation that perspective influences a lot of things from my mood to my state of mind. How I view things is the delicate line between me feeling motivated or me being on the brink of a mental breakdown.

We often face failures in our lives and we usually take those failures as a sign to give up but having perspective enables you to take those failures as motivation to work harder. Truth be told, that is so much easier said than done but like everything else in life, practise makes perfect. Towards the end of last year, nothing in my life was going as planned and that caused me to fall into a deep hole of sadness. I was so ready to give up. One of my biggest flaws, that I am working on, is throwing in the towel too easily. When things dont go my way I am quick to give up, wallow in self pity and go down the "Am I not worthy?'' cruise ship. Buuuut I am proud to announce that, that isnt me anymore!!!

My new motto is simply, ''What is meant to be will always find a way". This quote has helped change my perspective in unimaginable ways. Instead of worrying about the future, I just remind my self that whats meant to be will be. When things dont go my way, I tell myself that it wasnt meant to be and that greater things are coming. When I find myself crying over what I dont have, I end up rejoicing over what I do have. Sometimes I am discouraged and upset when my blog posts dont get as much reads/views as I would like. Eventually I get texts from people saying they could relate or how much they enjoyed reading what I had to say and that brings me so much joy. Obviously I didnt get the outcome I wanted (many many reads) but I got the outcome I needed (knowing that my words made an impact in someones life). Ladies and gentlemen, that is perspective and it has changed my life for the better.

Life is too short for you to spend it in sadness. I hope that after reading this, you are motivated to work on your perspective and to always look on the bright side. The Bible says to rejoice in tough times because you know that after the tough times pass, there will be so much joy that will make you forget that you went through a storm. The outcome of a situation is beyond our control, but how we view the outcome and how we choose to go forward is entirely in our control.

Blessed is she who believed

Luke 1:45 (NKJV) "Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord." I came across this scripture a couple of years ago on Pinterest, and I was quite fascinated by it. At that point in my life, I wasn't reading the Bible regularly; I simply enjoyed looking at scriptures on Pinterest. So when I came across this verse, it stood out to me, even though I didn't fully understand the context at the time. Here's the context. After Mary encountered the angel and was told that she would give birth to the Saviour, the angel also informed her that her relative Elizabeth, who had been called barren, was already pregnant with John the Baptist. When Mary went to visit Elizabeth, the child in Elizabeth's womb leaped for joy. Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke these words to Mary: "Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord....

The Pursuit Of Identity

There is a song I absolutely love and listen to a lot. It is a cover by Lawrence and Godswill Oyor titled Oshimiri Atata (which translates to, "River that never runs dry"). The song talks about how Jesus is the river that never runs dry. He is the One that provides never ending nourishment. He is the One that fills us up.  There is a particular line in the song that stood out to me the very first time I heard it: "The son of a lion is a lion." At the time, I didn't understand why the line stood out to me but after a while, it made sense. One of the biggest topics in our generation is about identity. We all desire to know who we are. The problem starts when we want to discover our identities outside of the One who created us. Before fully giving my life to Christ, I was in the pursuit of my identity but I was using the world's standards. I wanted to find my place in society, I wanted to fit in. My search was outside of Christ and that led to a lot of confusio...

Exposed in His presence

What do you do when you're in the presence of a holy God? Naturally, His holiness highlights our unholiness, and our first instinct is to hide from His presence. His holiness forces us to come to terms with our unholiness, and it often feels like we are unworthy of Him or of being in His presence. However, He doesn't view us as people who should be rejected. If anything, He views us as His perfect creations, a chosen generation, and His own special people (1 Peter 2:9). We are called to be holy just as He is holy (Leviticus 19:2). When you're in the presence of a holy God and all your unholiness is exposed, you should take that as an invitation to be holy as He is holy. His presence is not an invitation to condemnation, it's an invitation to be like Him. An invitation to walk with Him and spend time with Him until you are like Him. In the book of Isaiah 6, when Isaiah saw the Lord seated on His throne, he recognized that he was a man of unclean lips who dwelt in the mid...
